Esophageal Manometry Instructions
Arrive at check in time, checking in at the Surgical Procedure Area (SPA) which is on the 3rd floor of Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend located at 3333 RiverBend Dr. Springfield, Oregon 97477. You will park in parking structure S.
To prepare for Esophageal Manometry, follow these instructions carefully:
- Do not EAT or DRINK anything including water after midnight prior to your procedure except for morning medications.
- Take your usual medications with a small sip of water the morning of your exam excluding Reglan, pain relievers and anti‑anxiety medications (follow instructions as below). If you are taking diabetes medications, you should follow the individualized instructions. You should remain on any blood‑thinning medications. Hold all narcotics, Reglan, Domperidone, Azithromycin, Erythromycin, Levsin, Bentyl, Propulsid (Cisapride) for 24 hours prior to your procedure. Hold Valium, Ativan, Xanax, Klonopin for 12 hours prior to your procedure. These medications can affect motility and make esophageal manometry appear abnormal. You may continue aspirin products.
You will not be sedated for this exam and may drive yourself to and from your appointment. You will be at the SPA unit an approximate total of 2 hours.
