Gregory Knecht, M.D.

Gregory Knecht

Dr. Gregory Knecht graduated from Kansas University with a B.A. in zoology. He received his M.D. degree from the Kansas University Medical Center in 1973. His internal medicine residency, also at Kansas University, was completed in 1975. A fellowship in gastroenterology at University of California, San Diego was completed in 1977.

Dr. Knecht joined Dr. Douglas Walker in 1977 and together they formed Eugene Gastroenterology Associates. Dr. Knecht's outside interests include fly fishing, windsurfing, snowboarding and building and flying radio-controlled airplanes.

Christianne Kratka, M.D.

Christianne Kratka

Dr. Christianne Kratka graduated with a B.A. in biochemistry from Mount Holyoke College in 1978 and received her M.D. from the University of Rochester New York. She completed her training in internal medicine and gastroenterology at Oregon Health Sciences University. Her particular interests include inflammatory bowel disease. Her outside interests include her family, hiking, bicycling and travel.

Daniel Phillips, M.D.

Daniel Phillips

Dr. Daniel Phillips graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Oregon with a BS in biology in 1976. While there, he was awarded the McKenzie scholarship in his senior year the outstanding pre-medical student at the University of Oregon that year. He then attended the Oregon Health Sciences University. There he was elected to the AOA honorary medical society as a junior. He graduated cum laude in 1980. He completed his internship in residency training in North Carolina Memorial Hospital and Chapel Hill North Carolina in 1983 where he was given the Robert Ney Award for academic excellence, compassion and inspiration effect on others. He completed his fellowship training in gastroenterology at OHSU in 1987. He then joined the Straub Clinic in Honolulu and practiced there until 1993, when he returned to Oregon to join Eugene Gastroenterology Consultants. He sees patients with all types of gastrointestinal problems but has a special interest in liver disease. His hobbies include singing in the Eugene Symphony Chorus, white water rafting, and fly fishing.

Craig Chamberlain, M.D.

Craig Chamberlain

Dr. Craig Chamberlain graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Oregon with a B.A. in biology and then received his M.D. degree from Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland in 1978. He completed his residency training at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, and subsequently completed fellowship training in gastroenterology at Walter Reed Army Hospital in 1989. He is Board certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology. He came to Eugene in 1991 and initially worked at the Eugene Clinic until 1995.

Dr. Chamberlain then joined Eugene Gastroenterology Consultants. His specialty interests include peptic ulcer disease, Helicobacter pylori, and inflammatory bowel disease. He performs routine endoscopic procedures with the exception of ERCP. His non-medical interests include sports, skiing, golfing, and traveling.

Peter Kay, M.D.

Peter Kay

Dr. Peter Kay graduated from Columbia University with a B.A. in chemistry and then received his M.D. degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 1991. He completed his residency and fellowship training in internal medicine and gastroenterology at Stanford University.

Dr. Kay then joined Eugene Gastroenterology in 1997. His specialty interests include inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and gastrointestinal malignancies. His non-medical interests include fishing, hiking, collecting art/antiques, and traveling.

William Wu, M.D.

William Wu

Dr. Wu completed his undergraduate and medical education at the University of Washington. He attended the University of Colorado Health Sciences University for his Internal Medicine residency, then to the Oregon Health Sciences University for his sub-specialty training in Gastroenterology/Hepatology.

Although Dr. Wu has been in private practice since 1994, he has been in Eugene since 1999. His professional interests include prevention and early detection of colorectal cancer, and performance of challenging endoscopic procedures (such as therapeutic biliary endoscopy - ERCP). Dr. Wu's free time is devoted to his family, tennis, and bicycling. His Christian faith is a strong source of comfort and encouragement. He is an active member of the University Fellowship Church.


Donald Yang, M.D.

Donald Yang

Donald K. Yang, M.D. received his B.A. in Biochemistry at the University of Pennsylvania magna cum laude. He remained at the University of Pennsylvania for medical school to receive his M.D. degree. Dr. Yang then attended Stanford University for Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine. He completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of California, San Francisco, (UCSF).

Dr. Yang is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Beyond general Gastroenterology and hepatology, his special clinical interests include colorectal cancer prevention, inflammatory bowel disease, and endoscopic therapy of the biliary tract and pancreas. Outside of medicine, Donald and his wife, Elaine, are kept busy with a growing family. His non- medical interests include snowboarding, golf, and other outdoor activities.

Jonathan Gonenne, M.D

Jonathan Gonenne

Jonathan Gonenne, M.D. graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, majoring in Biology and Political Science. He received his M.D. at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Jonathan then moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he completed an internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and then worked as a hospitalist for Baptist Hospital. He completed a Gastroenterology fellowship at Mayo Clinic of Rochester, Minnesota and advanced endoscopy training at Beth Israel Hospital/Harvard in Boston, Massachusettes.

Jonathan is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Particular GI interests include gastrointestinal/pancreatic cancer and endoscopic ultrasound, hepatobiliary disease, and inflammatory bowel disease. The addition of Jonathan expands the Endoscopic Ultrasound capabilities in Eugene, to include comprehensive diagnostic assessment and directed needle biopsy. Jonathan plans to spend as much time possible exploring Oregon with his wife and daughters. He also enjoys tennis and blues harmonica.



Kimberly Hanson, N.P.

Donald Yang

Kimberly Hanson ANP (Advance Nurse Practitioner) graduated from San Diego State University with a B.S. in Nursing and then from Western University of Osteopathic Medicine with a M.S.N-N.P. in Nursing. Before arriving in Oregon, Kimberly had been employed providing women's health care, urgent and primary care to families in California and the Alaska Bush for fifteen years.

Kimberly joined Eugene Gastroenterology Consultants in September 2004. Personal interests aside from healing include camping, traveling, philosophy, reading and fun outdoor activities.
